# About founder story

> An about-page story told by the founder. A tall portrait holds the left column; opposite it, in a narrow reading measure, a tracked label, a large heading in her own voice, three short first-person paragraphs, a pull line hung off a thick rule, and her name set large in italic like a signature, with her role underneath. It ends on a person, not a button. Example portrait included, generated and nobody real; replace it with your own. States no colour and no font of its own.

### Founder story (the default)

Identical markup in every theme.

Your base ground with your contrast type, the pull line hung off a rule in your rule colour, and the name set in your theme's italic.

### Flax and walnut

This variation states its own colours and states its own type: identical in every theme.

A warm family-firm look: flax ground, dark brown type, a walnut rule and label, with a Georgia heading, pull line and signature over an Avenir Next body.

## The signature moment: the story is signed, not sold

**The section ends on a name at display size, not on a button.** The name is
set in italic at `clamp(2.25rem, 4vw, 3.5rem)`, close to the heading's scale,
so the story reads as a letter with a signature under it. The pull line between
the paragraphs is the second mark: a 4px rule down its left edge and the line
itself at `clamp(1.5rem, 2.6vw, 2.25rem)`. Both survive colourlessness because
they are made of scale and a rule, not of colour.

## What it inherits from your theme

- The ground is `base` and every line of type is `contrast`, each a two-rung
  chain. Text is at 4.5:1 or better in the stock themes.
- The label and the role line start on `role-label`, the pull rule on
  `role-rule`; both fall through to `contrast`.
- The heading is off the type ladder on purpose, a bare
  `clamp(2.25rem, 4.2vw, 4rem)`: in a first-person story the opening line is
  the composition. Body copy takes `medium`.
- The typeface, and so the italic of the signature, is your theme's.

## What it decides for itself

- The story sits in a constrained group of 36rem, left-justified, so a line
  stays under 75 characters at every width.
- The columns are 46 and 54 per cent and stack below 782px, portrait first.

## The Styled look

`flax-and-walnut` states a flax ground `#f4ecdf`, dark brown type `#2b2019`
(13.5:1) and a walnut label and rule `#7b4a2c` (6.3:1 on the flax), with the
heading, pull line and signature in Georgia over an Avenir Next body at weight
400. It is for an accountant, a solicitor or a family business that wants to
sound like a person.
