# Season calendar strip

> The year as one strip of twelve month cells, each naming the work that suits it: winter months inverted, the nesting months marked with a heavy top rule, autumn months set apart, and a three-part key beneath saying why. A heading, a line and a landscape photograph sit above. The strip runs twelve across on a wide screen and reflows by quarter, two quarters on a tablet and one on a phone, never scrolling sideways. States no colour and no font of its own.

### Year strip (the default)

Identical markup in every theme.

Winter months inverted to your contrast ground with base type, nesting months under a 6px contrast top rule, autumn months in a dashed role-rule frame, and your theme's own button.

### Bough

This variation states its own colours and states its own type: identical in every theme.

## The signature moment: the year is one strip, and the seasons are painted into it

**Twelve cells in a row, the winter months inverted, the nesting months from
March to August under a heavy top rule, autumn set apart**, and a key under
the strip that says why each season suits its work. The strip is four
quarters, each a fixed three-month grid inside a grid of quarters from a
17rem minimum: twelve across on a wide screen, six on a tablet, three on a
phone, so it reflows and never scrolls sideways.

## What it inherits from your theme

- **Typeface.** The base states no font family.
- **Palette.** Your `base` ground and `contrast` type. Winter cells invert to
  `contrast` with `base` type; nesting cells take a 6px `contrast` top rule
  in a `role-rule` frame; autumn cells a dashed `role-rule` frame. The key
  repeats each treatment as a swatch. The survey button is your theme's
  button with a stated padding; the call link is on `role-link`.

## What it decides for itself

- **The heading.** A bare clamp, about 34px on a phone.
- **The month cells.** A 8.5rem minimum height so the strip reads as one band.

## What to change first

1. **Each month's work line**: two or three words.
2. **The key**, if your seasons differ.
3. **The phone number** on the call link (it dials the number it shows).
