### Paper veil

Identical markup in every theme.

The veil is your base at 80% and the quote your contrast; the attribution plate inverts to your contrast. For a page that stays light.

### Plate left

Identical markup in every theme.

The quote hangs from the right on a narrower measure and the attribution plate moves to the lower left corner, so the words and the name pull against each other across the photograph.

## The signature moment: the quote is the size of the photograph

Most testimonials put a photograph beside the words. Here the words are the
picture: the quotation runs from 40px to 128px at 1.04 line-height and fills
the cover's measure edge to edge, so the photograph shows only between and
around the letters. The attribution does not sit centred under it; it is a
small, dense plate pinned to the corner, the quiet end of a scale collision.

## Type

The quotation is display type, deliberately off the theme's ladder: a bare
`clamp(2.5rem, 6.6vw, 8rem)`, because its size IS the composition. It is a
paragraph, not a heading, so the page outline stays yours. The name takes
`medium` (chain then clamp); the role states its own `clamp()` with a 15px
floor. The typeface is always your theme's.

## Why type on a photograph is permitted here

A cover's veil is the one knowable ground over an image: `contrast` at
`dimRatio` 80 under `base` type, measured against a white and a black
photograph, the worse of the two has to pass (large display type, 3:1; the
plate text, 4.5:1 against the plate itself). Lower the veil below 80 and that
stops being true. The plate is a `base` ground with `contrast` text, judged on
the plate, not on the photograph.

## What it inherits, what it decides

Inherits: every colour (veil and plate `contrast` and `base`, the plate via
`role-plate` and `role-plate-text` where our theme tool defines them), the
typeface, the spacing scale. Decides: the veil's opacity, the display size,
the 44rem minimum height (rem, never vh), the 1400px measure, and the plate's
corner. The cover states its own text colour so core's white default never
applies.

## What a buyer changes first

The quotation, then the name and role, then the photograph (select the cover
and choose Replace). Keep the quote under about fifteen words: at 390 it runs
to six or seven lines, and that is the ceiling.

## Variations

- **Paper veil**: the veil is `base` at 80% and the quote `contrast`; the
  plate inverts to a `contrast` ground with `base` text.
- **Plate left**: the quote hangs from the right on a 66rem measure and the
  plate moves to the lower left corner, so the words and the name pull
  against each other across the photograph.

## The hand-off row

A full-bleed cover fills the preview edge to edge, and on a buyer's page it is
never alone. So the pattern ships with a short row on your theme's paper under
it, a tracked label and one paragraph at a 34rem measure, identical in every
variation. It shows where the cover ends and is the first thing a buyer
rewrites or deletes.

## Included images

The copied markup includes a WordPress Photo Directory example photograph. The
public image URL keeps the example visible after pasting. Select the cover and
choose **Replace** to use your own Media Library file. See
