# Testimonial marquee editorial > Eight client quotes set large in one slow line across an inverted band, with no card behind them: a drawn dot between voices, and a small round photograph with the name under each quote. This one takes the boxes away: the quotes run as one line of large type across a band in your ink, a dot of the same ink between them, and the only thing under each is a small photograph and a name. It reads like a sentence the page is saying, not a wall of reviews, and at 0.35 it is the slowest marquee in the catalogue, because a quote at this size has to be read, not scanned. ## Why this is not testimonial-marquee `testimonial-marquee` is volume: twelve voices on cards in two rows running against each other, a crowd. This one is one row and eight voices with no plate, so each quote gets the room a pull quote gets. Use the first when the number of people is the proof; use this when the words are. It is also not `testimonial-statement` or `testimonial-band`, which hold one quote still. Here no single quote carries the section. ## Why the numbers are what they are - **One row, eight voices.** Eight quotes at 380px plus the 56px gap run well past a 1920px frame, so the loop never shows its seam, and every voice is real copy. - **380 by 200px per quote.** A marquee item with a stated width wraps its words, so each quote breaks over three or four lines at display size and one whole quote still fits a 390px phone. A longer quote wants a taller Item height, since the item clips what does not fit. - **Speed 0.35.** Slower than the card version's 0.5: bigger type, fewer words a second, the same reading time. ## What it inherits from your theme Everything you can see. The band is your `contrast` and the type your `base`, so it is inverted in every theme: dark in a light theme, light in a dark one. The separator dot is the block's, drawn in the same ink at 55 per cent. The heading is your `large` size, the lede your `medium`, the names your `small`, all in your theme's face; text measured against the band in every stock theme. ## What it decides for itself The display size of the quotes, a bare `clamp(1.375rem, 2vw, 1.75rem)` rather than a preset, because the size of the quotes is the composition. The 380 by 200px item, the 56px gap, the 2.25rem round photographs and the speed. ## What needs the plugin The running, the pointer control and the tap-to-stop. With the plugin inactive, or with motion switched off in the block's inspector, the heading is followed by the eight quotes as a plain stack, each with its photograph and name. A reader who asks for reduced motion always gets the still line, and the row can always be stopped with a tap, Enter or Space. ## What you change first 1. **The quotes.** Three or four lines fit an item; for longer ones raise **Item height** in the block's Motion settings. 2. **The photographs.** Select an image and choose **Replace**. 3. **The names and companies**, one line beside each photograph. 4. **The lede.** It says what the pointer does, because a control nobody knows about is a control nobody uses. 5. **Speed** if 0.35 is too slow for your quotes, and **Separator** if you would rather the voices ran without the dot. 6. **The heading level.** The heading is an `h2`; change the level if your page needs another. ## Included images The copied markup includes Pattern Paste example portraits.
