# Testimonial marquee > Twelve client quotes, each with a small round photograph, the name and the company, running two rows deep in opposite directions with the pointer driving them. Each quote is a sentence or two on a card the block draws from your own ink, slow enough to be read as it passes. Includes replaceable example images. Needs the companion plugin, which comes with your access; without it, or without motion, the heading is followed by the twelve quotes as a plain stack. States no colour and no font of its own. This one is the crowd: twelve voices, never all on screen at once, the top row running one way and the bottom row the other, so the band reads as a room of people talking rather than one block sliding past. Point at the left of the band and the voices run back; hold the middle and they stop, so one can be read; push right and they hurry. On a phone a finger swipes a row along. ## Why this is not testimonial-slider-proof or testimonial-ratings `testimonial-slider-proof` gives three long quotes a card each and lets the reader step through them; it is for the quotes that have to be read in full. `testimonial-ratings` lays six out still, to be compared. This one is volume: many voices, each a sentence or two, where the number of people saying it is the point. If a single quote has to carry the sale, use the slider. It is also not `logo-marquee-strip`. That is one quiet row of marks; this is two rows of people, with a face and a name on every card. ## Why the numbers are what they are - **A stated card, 360 by 200px.** A marquee item with a stated width is a card whose words wrap inside it, so each quote is a real sentence or two, three or four lines at your body size. 360px keeps one whole card on a 390px phone; 200px holds four lines and the name. A longer quote wants a taller Item height, since the card clips what does not fit. - **Speed 0.5**, the slowest of the marquee composites, because a quote has to be read before it leaves the frame, where a logo only has to be recognised. - **Twelve cards dealt six to a row**: enough that the loop does not visibly repeat inside a 1920px frame, few enough that every voice is real copy. ## What it inherits from your theme Everything you can see. The band's ground is your `base`, the ink your `contrast`, and the card behind each quote is the block's plate: your own ink mixed down to seven per cent, with a hairline of the same at sixteen. The quote is your body size (`medium`), the name your `small` size, the heading your `x-large`, all in your theme's face. The eyebrow and the names reach for `role-label` and fall back to `contrast`. Nothing states a colour or a family; text measured at 16:1 against the ground in Twenty Twenty-Five. ## What it decides for itself The card size (360 by 200px), the 24px gap, the 3.5rem round photograph and the slow speed. The photograph's circle is a border radius on the image block. ## What needs the plugin The running, the pointer control and the tap-to-stop. With the plugin inactive, or with motion switched off in the block's inspector, the heading is followed by the twelve quotes as a plain stack, each with its photograph and name. Nothing you typed lives in a block setting. A reader who asks for reduced motion always gets the still band, and every row can always be stopped with a tap, Enter or Space. ## What you change first 1. **The quotes.** Four lines fit a card: a quote longer than that is cut at the card's foot, so if yours are longer, raise **Item height** in the block's Motion settings. 2. **The photographs.** Select an image and choose **Replace**, or select the block and use "Fill items from media library" to deal twelve at once. 3. **The names and companies**, one line under each quote. 4. **The heading and the lede.** The lede says what the pointer does, because a control nobody knows about is a control nobody uses; take the sentence out and you have taken the control out. 5. **Speed, Top speed and Still band** if the band feels too slow or too eager. 6. **The heading level.** The heading is an `h2`; change the level if your page needs another. ## Included images The copied markup includes Pattern Paste example portraits.
