# Work index ledger

> A project index kept as a ledger: eight rows between hairlines, each a small print of the work and then its year, client, one line on the project and the discipline, newest first. The fields hold fixed widths so the years, clients and disciplines line up down the page like columns, and on a phone the print stays beside its lines while they stack. A label and heading above, a request line and a text link below. States no colour and no font of its own.

### Ledger (the default)

Identical markup in every theme.

Your base as the ground and contrast as the type, currentColor hairlines between the rows and a currentColor mark on the label.

### Folio

This variation states its own colours and states its own type: identical in every theme.

## The signature moment: the ledger's fields hold their widths, so years, clients and disciplines line up down the page like columns

**Each row is a flex line, not a table.** The print is a fixed 8rem 4:3 crop in its own column,
then a wrapping group whose year, client and discipline are fixed-width flex
items and whose project line fills what is left, so the fields form columns
without a table's markup or a table's collapse on a phone. Hairlines run
between the rows and under the last one.

On a phone the print stays at the left of each line and the year, client,
project and discipline stack beside it, so the ledger still scans top to
bottom as prints down the left edge.

## What it inherits from your theme

- **The typeface.** No font family is stated; the heading takes the theme's
  `x-large` rung, years and disciplines are small tracked capitals, clients
  are your body face at a heavier weight.
- **Your colours.** Base ground, contrast type, `currentColor` hairlines and
  label mark; the label reads the `role-label` role where our theme tool
  defines it and falls to `contrast`.
- **Your spacing.** Section padding and the gaps above and below the ledger
  are spacing presets; row padding is fixed so the rules stay evenly spaced.

## The Folio look

The free Folio set's index: bone `#efe9df` ground, graphite `#5b5f66`
hairlines and project lines, darkroom `#141517` monospace years and
disciplines, clients in Helvetica, a safelight `#c8432b` mark on the label.

## Photographs

Eight CC0 photographs from the WordPress.org Photo Directory, linked from
pd.w.org, cropped 4:3: a bowl, a cane cabinet, a staircase, clay cups, a
coastal town, a palace front, a housing block and a fanned book. Replace them
with prints of your own projects.
