I opened Mend with one couch and a borrowed desk in 2014.

I had spent twelve years in NHS outpatients, seeing people for ten minutes and handing them a sheet of exercises. Most of them never came back, and I never found out why.

So I set up on my own, in a room above a bike shop. There are four of us now on Vale Road, and the cyclist who was my first patient still comes in every spring.

If you leave not knowing why it hurts, we have not finished the first appointment.

That is still how we work. One physio for your whole course, 45 minutes the first time, and a written plan you can read at home.
