The Clay Room / everyone starts somewhere

A little good
to know.

A few answers before you roll up your sleeves. Come curious, leave a little muddy.

Never touched clay. Am I in the right place?

Absolutely. Our beginner sessions start with the basics, and your teacher stays close by as you find your feet. No perfect pots expected. Just a willingness to have a go.

What should I bring along?

An apron is waiting for you here, along with all your tools and clay. Wear something you do not mind getting dusty, tie back long hair and keep your nails short if you can.

Can I come on my own?

Please do. Plenty of people arrive solo, and sharing a table makes introductions easy. There is room for a quiet afternoon too, if that is more your thing.

When can I take my piece home?

Clay needs time to dry, glaze and fire. Your piece will usually be ready to collect in four to six weeks. We will email as soon as it comes out of the kiln.

Is the workshop accessible?

The studio has step-free access and an accessible bathroom. Our hand-building tables have space for a wheelchair. Let us know what would make your visit comfortable when you book.

Could we make a day of it?

That sounds like a good idea. We run private sessions for friends, families and small teams. Send us your group size and a couple of dates, and we will find a way to get everyone around the table.
