Harbour & Hale had drawn the library for four years before anyone photographed it. They sent me the plans, a list of the rooms and a note that said the light was the point.

I spent the first morning with the camera in its bag, walking round with the caretaker, writing down when the sun came through the north lights.

The book went to press at Pressworks in March, 96 pages, most of them taken between nine and eleven in the morning.
