Our history

Forty years of making buildings.

An architecture practice, told in the six years that changed it.

1986

Two architects open a studio above a bakery.

1994

Our first public building, the harbour library.

2003

The practice moves into the old rope works.

2011

Forty people, three cities, one drawing board.

2019

The studio becomes wholly employee owned.

2026

Our tallest timber building opens this spring.

What comes next

The next forty years start with the drawings on our desks today: schools, a ferry terminal and a street of homes built to be taken apart and used again.
